Quant Trading Consultancy (QTC)

QTC frameworks. Assess, score, optimise.

Three connected frameworks sit behind how QTC assesses, scores and improves electronic trading businesses. They give every engagement the same evidence standard, so findings can be compared, tracked and acted on.

Assess

Trading Readiness Index

Optimise

From findings to measurable improvement.

Assess

Trading Infrastructure Maturity Assessment

A structured, desk-led assessment of the trading estate and the operation around it.

We interview the desk, technology and operations, review documents and systems, and rate each area against a five-level maturity scale. Every finding is tagged as confirmed evidence or assumption, so decisions rest on what is actually true.

1 · InitialAd hoc and person-dependent; little is documented.
2 · RepeatableDocumented in places, applied inconsistently.
3 · DefinedStandard processes and controls, with evidence.
4 · ManagedMeasured, monitored and regularly tested.
5 · OptimisedContinuously improved against agreed targets.

Areas assessed

  • Strategy, governance and ownership
  • Trading platform and order management
  • Connectivity and execution
  • Market data and data rights
  • Pre-trade risk and kill controls
  • Post-trade, reconciliation and treasury
  • Infrastructure, hosting and resilience
  • Research, data and back-testing platforms
  • Regulatory and compliance readiness (with specialist partners)
  • People, delivery and change

What you receive

  • A maturity profile across every area
  • Findings that separate confirmed evidence from assumption
  • A prioritised roadmap, including build-or-buy options
Score

Trading Readiness Index

One score for one question: are you ready to go live?

The Trading Readiness Index turns the maturity assessment into a weighted readiness score, with a breakdown by area. Weights are set for each engagement to reflect the strategy, markets and risk appetite involved.

Some controls are gates, not weights. If a critical control fails, such as an untested kill switch, missing data rights or an unreconciled order lifecycle, the answer is "not ready", whatever the overall score.

How it is used

  • Setting go/no-go criteria before a launch or migration
  • Tracking progress between assessments
  • Briefing boards, investors and brokers in a consistent format

The practical checks behind the index are set out in our production deployment sign-off matrix.

Optimise

Electronic Trading Optimisation Framework

From findings to measurable improvement, in a repeatable cycle.

1. PrioritiseRank gaps by risk, commercial value and effort.
2. DesignTarget state, build-or-buy and controls, agreed with owners.
3. DeliverStaged, gated delivery across the four pillars.
4. VerifyRe-assess and re-score; evidence closes each item.

The framework drives our Deliver engagements, and it keeps improvement work honest: an item is closed when the evidence says so, not when the work is reported as done.

How the frameworks connect to engagements

  • Assess uses the Maturity Assessment and the Readiness Index.
  • Deliver runs on the Optimisation Framework, with the Readiness Index as the go-live gate.
  • Lead uses all three as the shared baseline for decisions.
